The outsider's version of LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch is a shopping center off the Grand Parkway with a Trader Joe's, a Flix Brewhouse, and a Warby Parker. The neighbor's version is different. If you live in Nottingham Country, LaCenterra is the five-minute drive that decides your Friday night, your Saturday morning run, and where the kids end up on a Sunday when the pool feels done for the summer. August is when that difference shows most clearly, because the calendar tightens and the newest addition has finally opened its doors.
This post is about what actually changed at the corner of Grand Parkway and Cinco Ranch Boulevard this summer, and how a Nottingham Country resident can put an August weekend together without ever getting on I-10.
The most concrete change is the space that used to be Baker Street Pub and Grill. It sat dark from late 2024 until construction crews moved in, and on June 10, 2026, it reopened as North Italia, the restaurant group's tenth Texas location and, following a soft opening on June 6, its newest full opening in the state.

Almost 300 seats across a dining room and two patios means a walk-in on a weeknight is more possible than you'd expect from a new opening, though early Yelp reviews describe waits of about 45 minutes even when the host quoted 25, because the restaurant is already popular. Second, ownership. North Italia is owned and operated by The Cheesecake Factory Incorporated, which is why the beverage program and the happy-hour structure feel familiar even if the menu is not.

Here is the piece a lot of Nottingham Country residents miss. LaCenterra is not just a place to shop and eat. According to the property's own leasing materials cited by Hoodline, the center pulls an estimated 5.2 million visits a year and hosts roughly 200 community events. That is not marketing spin. It is a real programming calendar, most of it free, most of it at Central Green, the outdoor lawn at the center of the property.

That is one of the more useful signals about who this center is designed for. A running club that meets in a parking lot every week is not a tourist attraction. It is a neighborhood habit.

The center's own description explains it: LaCenterra is a premier open-air lifestyle center at the intersection of Grand Parkway and Cinco Ranch Boulevard, spanning approximately 34 acres and more than 400,000 square feet, opened in 2007. At the heart of the property is Central Green, a multipurpose outdoor park that hosts year-round community programming, including live music, fitness classes, seasonal events, and family-friendly activities.
Read that sentence twice. It is the design intent, not marketing copy after the fact. The lawn was built to host things. The retail was arranged around it. That is why the calendar reliably delivers 200 events a year and why the newest restaurant to sign a lease is a 9,000 square foot Italian concept with two covered patios rather than a takeout counter.
For a resident, the practical implication is that this is where a decent share of your discretionary weekend hours will go regardless of whether you plan for it. It is worth planning for it.
North Italia is the visible change this summer. The less visible one is happening further west. The 165-acre Texas Heritage Marketplace project along I-10 and Texas Heritage Parkway, anchored by a Target Supercenter, is expected to bring more than 750,000 square feet of new retail, dining, and entertainment space, along with five acres of green space for community events, trails, and outdoor gathering areas, with the first openings expected in 2026. That project sits west of Nottingham Country, so it will not replace LaCenterra as the neighborhood's default anchor, but it will change what a Saturday afternoon looks like when the kids want somewhere new.
For now, August 2026 is a good time to test what your walking radius actually covers. The Fleet Feet run on Tuesday is free. The Farmers Market on Saturday is free. The concerts on Central Green are free. The one thing that costs money just opened next to Warby Parker, and the covered patios are new enough that the concrete has not yet been rained on twice.
